AI search for knowledge bases
Universities, OSS projects, and internal support teams deserve better than brittle keyword search. Route docs and wiki queries through Seekmodo with native fallback, JobQueue indexing, and MCP for internal copilots.
- MediaWiki 1.39+ — Special:Search integration with CirrusSearch fallback (see /solutions/mediawiki-search-extension).
- Drupal — connector on the roadmap; pair custom KBs today via /solutions/rest-api-storefront-search.
- Custom docs portals — REST API and SDKs at /docs/rest for headless help centers.
Technical setup
This page covers the product and SEO story. First-party install guides and custom-connector API docs (for platforms we do not ship) live in the developer docs.
Docs portals, internal wikis, and public KBs
Knowledge base search fails when typos return zero results, recency signals are ignored, and support teams cannot see which queries stall readers. Seekmodo targets institutional buyers who need hosted relevance learning without operating Elasticsearch clusters for every wiki farm.
Platform coverage

MCP for internal copilots
Every paid plan exposes a per-tenant MCP server so Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, and custom internal copilots query the same live index as Special:Search — with bot-check, rate limits, and tenant isolation. See /solutions/mcp-catalog-search.
Enhanced Native before you subscribe
MediaWiki ships Enhanced Native on install — better local retrieval before you pair a tenant. Subscribe for cloud AI ranking, analytics, synonyms, and zero-result rescue.
Access control and compliance
Tenant region selection (US / EU) from the operator console. Pair private wikis behind SSO; Seekmodo indexes what your connector syncs — configure namespace and visibility rules in the extension admin.
Frequently asked questions
Does this replace CirrusSearch?
No — CirrusSearch and native MediaWiki search remain the degradation floor when the gateway is unreachable. Seekmodo routes active search when paired.
Can we index private namespaces only?
Configure namespace filters in the MediaWiki extension before the first index job. Contact us for federated wiki farms with mixed public/private wikis.
How is PII handled?
Seekmodo indexes article content your connector sends. Do not sync namespaces with raw PII unless policy allows — see /legal/security and your DPA.
Is SSO supported?
Storefront SSO is your wiki's job. Seekmodo pairs at the connector layer — readers authenticate to MediaWiki as today; search inherits those visibility rules.
How does pricing work for institutional wikis?
Public wikis with moderate traffic often land on Growth ($299/mo). Use the dashboard search counter during trial or /solutions/search-volume-pricing for tier math.
