What's free vs what requires a subscription?
Enhanced Native search ships free on connector install — better local search with no account. Subscribe (or start a 14-day trial) for cloud smart search and the full product: recommendations, chat widget, image search, merchandising, experiments, and the AI-assistant API. Every paid tier includes the same features; monthly limits differ.
Which plan should I pick if I don't know my traffic yet?
Start with Essential unless you know you're tiny (Hobby) or already huge (Starter+). Every plan includes a 14-day trial with full features and unlimited searches. Watch the searches counter in your dashboard; move up or down from /billing in two clicks.
How does the 14-day free trial work?
Every plan starts with 14 days at $0. During the trial you get unlimited searches and every feature unlocked. Cancel before day 14 and pay nothing. On day 14, the plan you picked starts billing; switch tiers any time from /billing.
What happens if I exceed my plan's searches after the trial?
Your search bar keeps working. By default the connector falls back to Enhanced Native (your improved built-in search) until your cycle resets or you upgrade. With prepaid credits, smart search continues past your limit until the balance is empty. Trial users never hit plan quotas.
What counts as a search?
Visitor requests through the connector — search bar, autocomplete, category browse backed by search, image search, chat assistant tool calls, and recommendations. Indexing, analytics rollups, and LTR training on our servers do not count. On Hobby, image search and chat tool calls burn your monthly limit faster (3× and 5× vs 2× and 3× on Essential+).
Can I keep AI search running past my plan limit?
Yes — top up prepaid credits from /billing. Rates: Hobby $1.49, Essential $0.99, Starter $0.49, Growth $0.39, Scale $0.10 per 1K searches. When the balance hits zero, search falls back to Enhanced Native until you top up or upgrade.
Does Seekmodo work right away, or does it need to learn my site first?
Smart search works from install. Rankings also learn from shopper clicks once you have enough traffic — typically weeks on a busy store, months on a quiet one. That training runs on our servers and does not count against your search limit.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. Upgrade and downgrade from /billing. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the next billing date.
