What “Enhanced Native” means (free on install)

Enhanced Native is Seekmodo’s free-on-install search mode — what it includes and how it upgrades to cloud ranking.

Enhanced Native is Seekmodo’s on-install search mode: better retrieval than stock platform search, without requiring a paid cloud plan on day one. It exists because most merchants install a connector before they are ready to debate tiers — and search has to work that afternoon.

This post explains what Enhanced Native is, what it is not, how it relates to cloud ranking, and how to evaluate the upgrade path without a sales call.

The problem it solves

Every CMS ships a search box. Most of those boxes are string matching against a few fields. Merchants notice the failure mode immediately: zero results for messy queries, or a wall of weakly related hits. Buying a full SaaS search product can feel like overkill before you have measured traffic.

Enhanced Native is the middle path. Install the Seekmodo connector for WordPress, WooCommerce, Zen Cart, Magento, BigCommerce, or MediaWiki. Keep your theme. Improve multi-field matching and typeahead where the platform allows — locally / in the connector — so shoppers get a better experience before billing starts.

What you get immediately

  • Connector-side index and query improvements over stock platform search
  • Typeahead / suggest hooks where the platform supports them
  • Theme-native chrome (branding off by default)
  • A clean upgrade path to cloud AI ranking, analytics, pinning, synonyms, and MCP

You do not get the full cloud merchandising console or click-learning ranker until you pair a tenant and subscribe (or start the trial). That split is intentional: day-one usefulness without forcing a credit card for a proof of concept.

What Enhanced Native is not

It is not “unlimited free AI forever.” It is not a promise that every edge-case synonym will resolve without cloud ranking. It is not a replacement for fixing catalog data quality. And it is not a second search product with a different UI language — the goal is to feel like your CMS got smarter, not like a third-party widget landed in the header.

Cloud ranking: when to turn it on

Pair a tenant when you want:

  • AI-ranked results that learn from anonymized clicks
  • Admin pinning, synonyms, and analytics
  • MCP catalog tools for ChatGPT / Claude-style agents
  • Shared vertical models and gateway features described on /features

Trials unlock Growth-tier features with uncapped searches for 14 days on published plans — see /pricing. After the trial, pick Hobby through Scale based on real volume from the dashboard, not a guess.

Fallback behavior matters

If cloud quota is exhausted or the gateway is unreachable, connectors are designed to fall back to Enhanced Native rather than showing a broken search box. That is part of the product story, not a footnote. Merchants evaluating Seekmodo against keystroke-metered vendors should weigh that operational difference beside the invoice math on Doofinder pricing vs search-volume billing.

How to try it

Install from /plugins for your platform, leave branding off, run your worst twenty queries, then start a trial when you want cloud ranking. Read platform solution pages under /solutions for install intent, and use the pricing calculator once you have a month of real search volume.
